Dr. Vaidya treats a wide range of psychiatric condtions to include, anxiety OCD, PTSD Social anxiety disorder, depression, Bipolar/ mood disorders, gender dysphoria, attention issues, delirium dementia psychiatric symptoms in the setting of mental illness/severe and persistent mental illness. She sees the patient as a whole and keeps in mind all aspects of you: genetics and biological factors, your lifestory, and the impact it has on you today as well as your current stressors/ social environment/ relationships professional situation and cultural background. She combines psychotropics/ psychopharmacology with supportive psychotherapies to enhance recovery and build coping skills. She helps you identify relapses or stressors and coping with them to reduce future episodes.
Psychotherapy
Dr. Vaidya incorporates general supportive psychothery as well as more targeted Cognitive Behavioral therapy CBT, Dialectical Behavior therapy DBT; to tailor it your specific needs. These are specific to your goals and help you to reduce repetitive behavior that causes you to feel “stuck”. It helps you change your perspective and reduce negative thinking so you can lead “your best life”. She also helps patients use Cognitive behavioral Therapy to reduce emotional eating and improve your relationship with food. Psychotherapy can be very helpful for depression anxiety mood – disorders, trauma and feeling a lack of fulfillment. Dr. Vaidya will discuss in the evaluation therapies that might be best to help your specific needs/ goals
Eating Disorders
Dr. Vaidya has been treating patients with emotional eating/ binge eating and body dissatisfaction. She has written books and has been an international speaker on emotional eating binge eating. She tailors your treatment with medication and/ or therapy to help improve your relationship with food. She has been helping patients before and after bariatric surgery to help get the best outcomes.
Life Changes
Life changes such as leaving home for college, moving, struggles with chronic medical illness and aging/ cognitive decline are powerful transistions causing much disruption and struggle. Dr Vaidya has worked with college age/ young adults/ chronic medical illness Peri partum or mental illness related to pregnancy , Menopause and cognitive decline and aging are vulnerable difficult times which can cause significant struggles and derailment for the patient and their families. Dr Vaidya views the patient in the context of their entire struggle and helps tailor treatment specific to your situation
